From the principal

Dear parents and caregivers

Kia ora koutou katoa

Some updates
Our caretaker, Carl, continues to recover from cancer treatment. Ken Harvey, Carl’s predecessor, has been filling the gap in the meantime for which we are very grateful. Craig South (a school parent) is going to cover the custodial duties until Carl returns and the lawns will be maintained by John Humphries, the former greenkeeper at Chisholm Park Golf Club. We do appreciate the willingness shown by our community to help out in time of need.

From time to time we require relief teacher aides, often with little notice. Any parents or grandparents who are interested in this work should register interest with Mrs Staynes.

Goal setting is coming up. These conferences are a great opportunity to get an update on your child’s progress thus far, as well as contributing to setting some goals for the rest of the year.

Kia kaha tatou katoa ki te tautoko o tatou tamariki, mokopuna hoki.

John McKenzie
Principal

School wins computers

Our school has won a notebook computer and an Ipad mini 2 after the class picture we chose to have on the cover of our free Academy school books was judged the best art work received last year!
Excellent work by Mr Andrew’s class in room S1 last year who created this lovely artwork in their exploration of shapes and patterns.

Dental Clinic visits

Dental therapy clinics begin this Friday 4 March. Children receive their treatment from students under the care of dental therapists and/or dentists.
The Dental School will advise parents/caregivers of the date and time of clinics. Children are normally transported in a mini bus and are supervised by a dental student. Parents and caregivers are welcome to travel with their child and attend the clinic, or you may take your child independently.
If a consent form is required, please ensure it is completed and given to your child on the day of the appointment, or left at the school office.  If you have any queries regarding your child’s care please contact Donna, the Dental School administrator, on 479 7189.

Payments needed for activities

The junior and middle school are having a lesson with St John Ambulance educators next Monday and Tuesday. The cost per child is $2. Could you please pay this amount at the school office if you not paid the activity donation.
Children also enjoyed a performance of Puss in Boots: Pet Detective from the Playhouse Theatre yesterday. The cost per child was $4.50 which needs to be paid at the office if you have not paid the activity donation.
Thank you in advance.

Walk n Wheel Day

Tomorrow (Wednesday) is Walk n Wheel Day, so we encourage everybody to make a special effort to walk, bike, skate or scoot to school.
If the distance is too far from home, children can be dropped off at a safe place and walk or wheel from that point.

Goal-setting interviews

Interview times for three-way parent, teacher and child interviews have been sent home today. Please check your child’s/children’s school bag/s.
We have tried to give everybody who returned their forms the times they requested.

Please update your details

We have had a few instances lately where we have tried to contact parents but the phone
numbers we have on record were incorrect.
Please call into the office to check we have all of your correct personal details, such as phone
