Unboxing My New Apple Card [Video]

After all the coverage of Apple's new credit card, I had to try it myself. The unboxing was far from elegant but, the end result was pretty amazing. Have the credit card? Looking to get one soon? Would love to hear what you think of Apple's new push into the payments game.

Disruption, change, & golden opportunities for the evolving outdoor industry.

While 2.2 percent of the US Gross Domestic Product (GDP) might not seem like much, when you consider how that amounts to around $734 billion dollars, the outdoor industry in the US creates a huge economic splash. And, according to a recent report by the Outdoor Industry Association (OIA), the industry’s growth doesn’t show any signs of stopping — even with a potential recession looming in the future.

Foot Locker And Nike Partner For A Community-Focused, Tech-Forward NYC Store

Sneakerheads have always flocked to Foot Locker to get their hands on a pair of the latest Nikes. Now, a newly-opened Manhattan store is uniting the two brands in a partnership that's meant to bring the surrounding community together.

The Foot Locker store is powered by Nike's app, which allows visitors to enhance their visit with bonus features, including access to Nike vending machines and the ability to search for Nike products online and reserve them in the store. Located in New York City's Washington Heights neighborhood, the storefront is one of a handful of “Power Stores,” which are Foot Locker locations that aim to engage customers with events and extras, on top of rethinking the traditional store layout.

Macy's debuts secondhand apparel sales with ThredUp

With this tie-up, Macy's is aligning with one of the best growing segments in apparel retail.

Transactions for used apparel rose a whopping 254% over the past two years at B-Stock, a B2B marketplace for returned and excess apparel, according to a report emailed to Retail Dive. Handbags and other bags, denim, footwear, jackets and fine watches were the top five categories in used goods, B-Stock also found.

Consumers are increasingly gravitating to such items. Some 64% of women last year bought second-hand fashion or "are open" to it, up from 45% in 2016, according to ThredUp's most recent resale report. A quarter of department store shoppers also buy used goods, ThredUp found, while luxury second-hand site The RealReal in its own report on the segment said that 93% of its customers "regularly shop department stores like Saks Fifth Avenue, Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus and Bloomingdale's."

Kroger Is Using a New Shoppable Offering on TikTok to Try and Sell Back-to-School Staples

Kroger is using TikTok, a rapidly growing social media app, to feature shoppable offers on back-to-school products, according to Adweek.

The grocer is partnering with four influencers to post videos promoting its campaign hashtag #TransformUrDorm and to encourage people to share videos of their dorm room transformations on social media. Kroger is reportedly the first retailer to issue a sponsored hashtag challenge as part of the platform's shoppable content.

The hashtag lets social media surfers shop for Kroger products like granola bars, laundry baskets, and popcorn makers on a dedicated mobile page designed to appeal to the college-age demographic. Users can also browse Kroger's site within the TikTok app.

McDonald's hypes spoof streetwear line 'Schnuggs' with AR lens, GIFs

McDonald's U.K. campaign with Leo Burnett London pokes fun at the trend of fast food chains creating limited-run streetwear collections that attempt to capture consumer hype around real-deal brands like Supreme and Bape. The Big Mac purveyor is guilty of having done this before through its own McDelivery Collection, which promoted a then-new tie-up with UberEats, and a Big Mac lifestyle product line.
