Braving the Wilderness

Pt. 1 Everywhere and Nowhere

Rev. JudeDear <<First Name>>,

This Sunday we begin our six-week Adventures in Spirit through Brene Brown's book Braving the Wildernness. Through the book, Brown challenges us all “to brave the wilderness of uncertainty, vulnerability and criticism."

With the world feeling like a political and ideological combat zone, this is remarkably tough. We sometimes forget that even when we’re utterly alone, we’re connected to one another by something greater than group membership, politics and ideology — we’re connected by love and the human spirit.

Everyone has had a “wilderness experience” at one point in life. We all experience the magnitude of the wilderness in different ways, different time frames and differing levels of ease and grace. Jesus traversed the wilderness to overcome the temptations that “represent the desires and ambitions of the untried and untrained forces in the subconsciousness.” According to Unity co-founder, Charles Fillmore, this is the metaphysical meaning of the wilderness experience.

In this series we will take up Brené Brown's challenge “to brave the wilderness of uncertainty. No matter how separated we are by what we think and believe, we are part of the same spiritual story.”

In the spirit of that same story join us in a journey of belonging and truth to travel into the wilderness, and discover the Christ within.

See below for list of book study groups to accompany our Sunday lessons.  I lovingly invite you to join in the adventure.

In loving service,
Rev. Jude
