Brothers retain Richard Peppiatt trophy
Brothers Premier Grade side has retained the Richard Peppiatt memorial trophy after an emphatic win over Perth Bayswater on Saturday 4 May with a 49 to nil shut out.
Brothers dominated the game from start to finish and piled on 32 points to nil in a strong first half performance. Baysie worked hard to get back into the game after the break and went toe to toe with the Brothers however Joondalup was equal to the task in repelling the Baysie attack. Late in the game Brothers ran in a further 3 tries to finish well on top.
“We have been a little down on confidence over recent weeks so todays' result will be a good boost for the boys” Prems Head coach Dave Wells said.
"It was pleasing to see the boys enjoying themselves and the result certainly showed that. We have a tough run ahead so to get a bonus point today was fantastic."

On 12 May the Under 17's travelled to Bunbury to face the newly formed SW Spirit, so after an early set out for the two hour journey the kick off was scheduled for 12:00, the ref asked for a delay of 15 minutes so kick off was at 12:15, it was evident early that this was going to be a tough game with the referee not helping the process blowing his whistle every 30 seconds it seems, as the game progressed at an excruciating slow pace for both sides due the inadequacy of the ref to control the game the Blues managed to go over for the first try, the kick was from under pressure so a drop goal from the touch line was decided and it sailed over much to the crowds delight! It seemed that this was going to be the theme of the game with a very scrappy game. There was a further 3 tries for the Blues during the stop start of the game to make the final score 26-0.
Under 13 Gold - 11 May
The Gold team faced our bogey team Perth Bayswater looking for our first win against them. Due to scheduling issues we started with only 13 players. The game started with the expected excitement, and both teams going blow for blow, until Baysie exploited the extra numbers and went in for a try. The Brothers kept the pressure on and where rewarded with a try from Caius rolling off the back of the maul. The score went to 7 - 5 to Perth Bayswater. Then Travis got his chance to kick a penalty from 35mtrs out, and he nailed it! 7-8 we’re in the lead!
Perth Bayswater come back hard against us, every player on both teams are giving their all. Our boys worked really hard in defence and tackling, stopping every onslaught time after time, holding out for 10 minutes in our own half. What a win! Man of the Match goes to Marcus Brooks for his fantastic defensive efforts tackling their biggest players. Well done Marcus and the boys, enjoy the well deserved win.
