Volunteers
Our volunteers are the lifeblood of operations at The New Love Center. Even in snowy, cold February, 250 volunteers donated a total of 874. Thank you to everyone who gave of their time to serve the men, women, and children who depend on us to help meet their daily needs.

Interested in volunteering? You will make a difference at TNLC!

We would love for you to come and see how a normal day runs. We are happy to answer any questions you may have and we look forward to working with you. Please call Kristin in the office at 570-244-8838 to set up a time to come and visit, so we can ensure someone is available to any questions you may have.

The Cafe
We continue to serve take out meals only at this point, serving an average of 88 meals each day. All clients were informed we would be closed Tuesday, February 16 because of the impending snowstorm. Two meals were given out on the Monday so they would have food for both days and not have to venture out.

We have been providing curbside meal service, so people are not entering into the church at all. In spite of the winter snow, ice and cold temperatures, we still manage to serve at least 50 meals on the worst days, and on better days over 80-100 meals.

We continue to serve delicious and healthy meals our clients enjoy, with almost no fried foods, more fresh fruits and vegetables, more protein foods, less baked goods, and healthier drinks.

To comply with Covid-19 related mandates, everyone must wear a mask and use hand sanitizer upon entering the building. We strive to maintain social distancing between our staff, volunteers, and clients.
Food Pantry
We served 1,312 clients this month, 64 of whom were new. In addition to our regular distribution, 79 senior boxes were given out and 128 individuals benefited from our MilitaryShare program. 180 students received food through the Jersey Shore Backpack program. 228 individuals participated in our Renovo Pop-Up Pantry, of whom 29 were new this month.
Fresh Food Farmacy
In the month of February, the Geisinger Fresh Food Farmacy - Jersey Shore Pilot had two distributions: February 5 and February 26. 13 volunteers gave 21.25 hours of their time to help pack boxes and distribute food. We had 21 clients enrolled for the 5th and 14 came for pick-up. On the 26th, we had 20 clients enrolled and 16 came. There was two weeks between distributions due to the weather. In total, we provided fresh food for 16 children, 36 adults, and 24 senior citizens, for a total of 82 individuals served. In the next month or so, we hope to begin setting up inside the building!
Thank You!
We are always grateful to our faithful volunteers who are with us week after week. The New Love Center and our clients depends on these incredible individuals for enabling our ministry to move forward, so no one in our community need go hungry.

Jesus replied, “They do not need to go away. You give them something to eat.” (Mat. 14:16) Jesus said that to His disciples when they had literally NOTHING to offer.  Fortunately, the New Love Center isn’t in those “straights”.  Resources are pouring in – all the more since COVID-19 arrived. Volunteers and corporations have responded to the increased need locally.

However, the Lord is exhorting us to continue to “pray to the Lord of the harvest” (Mt. 9:38) for workers (and resources), because our human resources are limited. Only He can keep the means to meet human need flowing. But He is counting on us to receive and distribute His grace.
