Vol·un·teer: A person who freely offers to take part in an enterprise or undertake a task. St. Paul says “For freedom you were set free.” What better way to use our freedom than to offer it back to those in need? Our volunteers donated over 1,300 hours last month. Without them, The New Love Center could not operate.
Volunteers, we can’t thank you enough for everything you do to serve the people who depend on The New Love Center.

In March, the Café was still take-out only and we had some adverse weather to contend with. Nevertheless, we served 2,382 meals! As the weather starts to get warmer and more people are comfortable going out, the Café will continue to serve delicious and healthy meals for everyone who wants them.

100 volunteers gave 282 hours of their time to keep the Café going. In addition to preparing the food, our volunteers have made it possible to deliver curbside meal service, so our clients do not need to get out of their cars or enter the building. Our volunteers continue to maintain social distancing and follow COVID-19 related guidelines so that everyone can stay safe while we work.

Our Café is unique, not only in the fact that anyone can come have a meal at no cost, but also in the meals we serve. The food is healthy and delicious, with almost nothing fried, and an emphasis on fresh fruits and vegetables, high-protein ingredients, fewer baked goods and healthier drink options.
Our regular food distribution is going strong, with 2,552 clients served last month. Of those, 231 were new people whom we are blessed to be able to help.

We also gave out 62
Senior Boxes, served 128 households through the MilitaryShare Program, and distributed food to 322 students in need through the Jersey Shore Backpack program. On top of all that, our Renovo Pop-Up Pantry remains going strong, with 309 households receiving food this past month...26 of those were coming to us for the first time!
This past month, the Geisinger Fresh Food Farmacy - Jersey Shore Pilot had its last pop-up style distribution on March 5. We had 20 clients enrolled for the distribution and 13 came for pick up.

Through the month of March we began the transition from a pop-up style distribution to a pantry choice model at the Henry Street Annex. We began serving the clients by appointment on March 23. We hope to build routine with those clients so they can receive the food they need.
Thank You!
We cannot say thank you enough to generous donors who make our work possible. The New Love Center and our clients depend on these incredible individuals and organizations for enabling our ministry to move forward, so no one in our community needs to go hungry. Here are a few donors who stepped up in a big way this past month:

Agape Fellowship donated 260 lbs of canned goods!

First Quality Employees volunteered over 44 hours in March. We thank those 27 volunteers for their time as well as the incredible 7,500 pounds of non perishable items for the Easter boxes!

Jersey Shore Elementary students collected over 4,000 items in their food drive!

Williamsport Home donated 182 lbs of canned goods!

"He humbled you, causing you to hunger and then feeding you with manna, which neither you nor your ancestors had known, to teach you that man does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord." Deuteronomy 8:3

When I was growing up, sometimes lunch would consist of mustard crackers or mustard sandwiches.  I know what hunger feels like, many of us do.  The Lord is true to His promises and provided Israel with mana daily.  He has blessed us daily with resources and a desire to help prevent others from experiencing the pain of hunger.
