Assisted Living Resident Helps End Decade-Long Family History Search
Cottage resident and researcher Millie Shaw, left, and Stephen Charles Lane show off a photo of Stephen's great-great grandfather, Charles Lane of Sanbornton. The two had been searching for Lane's photo for over a decade.
Millie Shaw, assisted living resident at The Cottage at Golden View, recently made the front page of The Citizen newspaper after helping Virginia resident Stephen Charles Lane discover the true story of his great-great grandfather, Charles Lane of Sanbornton, who served as a Justice of the Peace and clerk of the New Hampshire House of Representatives in the 19th century.

After learning more about his ancestor from Millie, Stephen asked her to help him find Lane's photo. After a decade of searching, Millie connected with a local history columnist who came to speak at Golden View. With the help of local historians, Millie and Stephen finally found what they were looking for.

Residents, Families, and Friends Celebrate Christmas
Family and friends recently joined Golden View residents in celebrating the holidays at our annual Christmas parties. On December 16, Inn residents and Retreat guests gathered in the Inn's Fireside dining room with their loved ones to celebrate the holidays with music by Kid Jazz Band. On December 18, residents of The Pines, Terrace, and Cottage and their loved ones gathered in the Villages Main Lounge for music by Ronnie Chase. Each party's attendees enjoyed special holiday drinks and desserts along with the festive music.
Residents Ring In The New Year At The Annual Siver & Gold New Year's Party
On December 31 at 10:30 am, Golden View residents will don their party attire and gather in the Villages Main Lounge to celebrate the good times from 2015 and cheer on the new year at our annual Silver & Gold New Year's Party. "Maestro" Peter Ole will join the party to make sure we welcome the new year with all of our favorite songs.

As always, dancing, singing along, and general merriment are encouraged!
