You can find all the details here for getting tickets, securing a sponsorship and making plans for winning big. We'll also have a silent auction with trips to sunny locales, a wine pull and more good stuff you'll want to bid on. It's a Wrap for ProAct

Thanks to all of you golfers and outing sponsors, our friends at ProAct will soon be rolling around in a newly wrapped van (sponsored by BarnRaisers) as they empower, inspire, and educate disadvantaged youth through critical service learning. Founded in 2010 by executive director Derrin Slack, ProAct is a critical service-learning organization committed to enriching the lives of youth in the Greater Indianapolis area with a mission to engage youth in public service that educates, delights, and inspires the youth and those they serve.

Since its inception, over 6,000 disadvantaged boys and girls have collectively provided over 30,000 hours of community service in over 300 community projects. Featured projects have ranged from building ramps for those with disabilities to providing dinners for the homeless. These projects shape our youth to ultimately become role models for their peers; by performing these acts, youth simultaneously build their character and esteem.

BarnRaisers To Serve in Peru

This July, a group of BarnRaisers will return to the Peruvian Andes to support 70 children at the Munaychay Orphanage. We'll spend time with the kids and put golf-outing funds to use making their environment more safe and secure.
Thanks to your overwhelming generosity - and our partners at the Rotary Club of Indianapolis and Power of One - 60+ kiddos (and dear friends) at The Fatima Orphanage in Fondwa, Haiti will soon have new places to call home. The older kids will live in orphan cottages (pictured here) and the younger ones will reside in a larger structure with several caretakers. These new homes will replace temporary structures that went up after the 2010 earthquake.

I (seated in picture) was introduced to the group of guys that would go on to form BarnRaisers by Josh Russell, one of our other founding Board Members.  Josh knew I was  an attorney with some experience working with nonprofit organizations, so he thought I may be able to help the group get started on that front.  While I had some experience with nonprofits, I did not have any experience as a board member and especially did not have any experience with being part of a startup nonprofit organization.  So the chance to be part of building an organization that could potentially bring about so much good to so many was an exciting opportunity.

Once I became more familiar with the other founding board members and understood their drive and passion for what BarnRaisers could become, I began to understand the impact this organization could have.  I have always been more driven by people than by tasks, and with this group, it’s easy to be passionate and excited about our past accomplishments and the things that we still hope and expect to accomplish.

As somebody who works with nonprofit organizations and nonprofit professionals in my professional life, I understand how difficult fundraising can be, especially without paid staff spearheading the efforts.  The efforts our board and our partners have made and continue to make to put on successful events that are both fun and raise significant funds for our recipient organizations continues to amaze and inspire me.

BarnRaisers says "THANKS" to all of our generous donors and sponsors. Your kindness is making a difference here at home and around the world.
