NPC Panhellenic Spirit Fund

The CIAPA is proud to announce it made a donation to the Panhellenic Spirit Fund. The gift was made in honor of NPC staff member Caitlin Moulton and Area Coordinator (ACs) Linda Purkapile and Sally Grant, all of whom were instrumental in assisting the CIAPA during its first year. The fund supports various NPC programs and is administered through the NPC Foundation.

CIAPA Member Organization Spotlight:
Alpha Delta Pi

Each month the CIAPA newsletter features its member organizations

Alpha Delta Pi was founded May 15, 1851, at Wesleyan Female College in Macon, Georgia, the first college chartered to grant degrees to women in the world. Originally named the Adelphean Society, Alpha Delta Pi is the first secret society for women. As its founder wrote in 1851, the sorority remains dedicated to “the mental, moral, social, and domestic improvement of its members” as its principles. Alpha Delta Pi has more than 260,000 members in 156 collegiate chapters and more than 150 alumnae associations. There are four active chapters in Iowa: Iowa State University, University of Iowa, University of Northern Iowa, and Drake University.

NPC Response to Harvard Policy on
Single-Gender Organizations

On May 6, Harvard University announced a policy, stating it would sanction students who are members of single-gender organizations, beginning with the class entering 2017. The policy will prevent students who join unrecognized single-sex organizations, such as sororities, from holding leadership positions in student government and athletic teams, among other restrictions. The NPC released a statement—in conjunction with officials from the North-American Interfraternity Conference (NIC), National Association of Latino Fraternal Organizations (NALFO), and the Association of Fraternity/Sorority Advisors (AFA)—in response to the Harvard policy.
