Spring Fest 2015
On April 18th, American Studies participated in the annual even Spring Fest this year. At the American Studies booth, young children received balloons. Everywhere on campus, you could find a gold American Studies balloon.
On April 24-25 the program hosted its annual graduate student symposium. To rekindle a collaborative Midwestern graduate student experience, we had graduate students from Bowling Green State University, Indiana University, University of Iowa, University of Michigan, and St. Louis University that participated in the symposium. We enjoyed meeting these colleagues and look forward to building a great network.
The overall goal was to enable students to present their work in a collegial environment and hopefully build collaborative connections with American Studies graduate students that will live beyond the symposium. Ideally, this will lead to future initiatives leveraging the contacts, resources, and opportunities presented by the Committee on Institutional Cooperation (CIC).

In an effort to better highlight and celebrate the wonderful work by American Studies students, faculty, and alumni we are launching Last Friday, a monthly newsletter for our program.
As the name suggests, the newsletter will go out on the last Friday of each month during the academic year, an apt moment to reflect on the events of the past month and signal the activities in upcoming weeks.
