Stepping into the next chapter
James and I want to thank you all so much for your prayers and support over these last three and a half years at YD. We also want to thank you again for people that have recently joined our team or increased their financial support over the last 10 months while I have been support raising to come on staff part time with YD as the Summer Staff Coordinator. We are blessed and very excited to share that we are BOTH FULLY FUNDED in our ministry positions! Praise God! He has been so faithful to us over these past three and a half years and grown us in ways we never imagined. We wanted to take the time to say thank you for being a part of this ministry and partnering with us as we continue to reach Horseshoe Bend for the Kingdom. This journey of support raising has had its highs and lows and has made me fully rely on God and His timing. God has taught me how His timing is perfect and that I cannot accomplish things on my own without His help and guidance. I take no credit for what He alone has provided for James and I over these past 10 months. I have never felt so humbled and have never been brought to my knees in praise more than these past months of support raising. The amount of times I have been completely blown away by how much people are willing to give still shocks me every month when I look at our giving report. I truly feel like a different person after stepping out in faith and trusting the Lord through all of this and I am so glad we have such a caring loving support team behind us in this journey. I was able to start in my ministry position, in the beginning of May, thanks to a donation that was made right before the summer staff got here. The transition from working alone at home to full on summer mode was crazy but I have loved it so much! God’s timing is truly amazing.
Newsletter to come...
Thank you for your prayer and support! We are so excited and thankful to be fully funded as of today. We are in the midst of some big life transitions with Katie coming on staff with YD, being right in the middle of a very busy summer, and the newest member of the Chidister family emerging any time (literally). I thought I would share a few pictures and captions as well as what I like to call "the highlight reel" thus far. We will be putting out a full length newsletter sometime in the next month with some student stories but some news is just too good not to share. Thank you again for your prayers and support! You are greatly appreciated.
-Summer staff training: Most all of May consisted of in depth training with our summer staff on topics ranging from climbing, rafting, kayaking, evangelism, programming, group management, local student ministry, cooking, and much much more.
-Critical time getting to know the hearts of our staff and honing ourselves as a team to be an effective tool in the hands of our maker.
-The beginning of our trips for the summer. Kicked of our local $5 raft days, TOADS (weekly group for local students), extended kayaking on the Owyhee, and welcomed our 4 high school student interns.
-On the Owyhee river for 7 days with Canadian young adult cancer survivors. Powerful trip in a beautiful place. many deep and meaningful conversations about self, faith and, purpose. (Pictures and stories to come!)
-TOADS retreat on the river.
-Raft day with Camp Hope; a group that serves children who have experienced some form of abuse abuse in their lives. Awesome to connect with students who have returned to camp for consecutive years.
-Katie and James figuring out the "ropes" of what it will look like to be parents.
-Biggest local raft day yet! 52 students joined us on one of our $5 raft days for local students. These are critical in the process of building student contacts and starting relationships with students from around the area.
-Weekly days with our TOADS. 25 local students we spend time with using rafting, climbing, kayaking, hiking, etc as tools to build relationship with and ultimately share the gospel and life with. Pictured here practicing our gear placement and anchor building skills.
-A radiant Katie (and James (not radiant)) patiently awaiting the arrival of the little one.
As I said: more to come soon! Big changes have moved from around the corner to being here right now! Both Katie and I are excited to share in this next stage of life with you and couldn't be more thankful for the team of support around us. Thank you!
Prayer for Katie as she becomes increasingly uncomfortable and ready for this baby to be on the outside.
Prayer for our TOADS. Prayer for deep conversations and opportunities to share the gospel. Prayer for a wide variety of students in all different stages of relationship with Christ (including no relationship yet).
Prayer for a smooth transition for both Katie and I in our jobs as we welcome baby Chidister soon.
