I had technical issues last week. I am sorry for the gap in newsletters! Let's get back to them ....
We are on the third week of Shelter in Place orders and I have been working from home for 5 weeks. I had no idea we would still be in this situation ~ how about you?
As the days crept by, I found myself thinking things would return to normal any day. I felt hopeful. But what I realized is that my desire and expectation for things to return to ‘normal’ was affecting me in several ways. Sometimes we must accept a situation we didn’t anticipate. So, I changed my mind set to one of acceptance. If this is the way things will continue to be for an unknown length of time, I need to accept it and make the best of it. It gave me a sense of relief and I felt calmer instantly.
It is human nature to push back when we face change, especially when it is sudden or forced upon us. But when we continue to push back or resist, it becomes exhausting and creates several negative outcomes. Poor sleep, frustration, anxiety, a short temper, lack of energy/sluggishness, food related issues and more. Have you noticed any of these in yourself or those around you? If you have, consider changing your mind set. Be patient with others as they deal with the changes in their own way. More change is coming as we get to a new normal or back to the previous ways. Take a few deep breaths and make the best of the situation.
In continued wellness, Andrea
