Twitter era storytelling

A new species of data viz has slowly and silently emerged, and before we knew it, it is everywhere: The emoji based Twitter chart. Here an example that's so clever we just wish we had done it ourselves, by filmmaker Elena Rossini:

It didn't take long for the Data Journalism Awards to be reborn after the Global Editors Network closed down. The successor is called Sigma Awards, and the deadline for this year's application is February 3.
