Hi everyone - it's been a while! That's because I've been crazy busy writing a brand new book. If you're looking at the cover and title and thinking, "Er...okay, but this doesn't really seem like your kind of book, JK," you'd be right. Earlier this year I was moping about, trying to figure out the secret to writing success (haha) and how to balance writing what I love with writing what sells. Around this time I read a review of a popular book it sounded like something I would like, so I bought it. And I did not like it. After raging about my lost money, I stopped thinking about the book subjectively and started thinking about it objectively.

It had a title that told you the whole story. The chapters were short. There wasn't an abundance of subplot - the hero & heroine were on the same page 90% of the time. Without intending to actually write the book, I tried to think of a title that told you everything, and I came up with My Roommate's Girl. Then I spent thirty seconds skimming stock photos and came across this one. To further procrastinate, I made a mock up cover, which is very similar to the finished product. Then I decided to write a few chapters. What's the harm, right? They're short - it'll be easy! A way to flex my writing muscles then get back to SERIOUS WRITING.
Except...the joke was on me.

The more I wrote, the more I loved this book. And because I never intended to show it to anyone, I just wrote whatever I wanted. (That actually resulted in so many repeated words when I was editing that I cried twice from frustration, but that's beside the point.) The point is that this was just supposed to be a silly exercise, and it turned into something fun and awesome. It's kind of like an episode of Chopped where you get the same ingredients as everyone else and have to put your own unique spin on them - this is my spin on the "popular" basket.

I hope you'll try it out - it's smart, sexy, funny, romantic, and a little bit twisty. And it's on sale for $2.99 until it comes out on June 12, when the price goes up to $3.99.

Enjoy!

The day a judge gave me the choice between going to prison or going to college was the day I vowed to stop stealing. Never again would I see something beautiful and beyond my means and take it, just because I wanted it. Just because I could.

When I moved in with Jerry, it was with good intentions. I needed a place to live while I got my degree, and he needed a roommate.

Then I saw Aster.

Blond and beautiful, good, pure, sweet, smart…and Jerry’s girlfriend. She was everything I never thought I could have. Except…maybe I can.

So I put a plan into action. Yeah, I’d probably go to hell, but it would be worth it. I wanted Aster. I wanted her yesterday and tomorrow and every possible way.

But you know what they say.

Be careful what you wish for…because you just might get it.
