Well, I never *intend* for it to be a year between books, but some other secret book-related stuff is happening behind the scenes, and that's been taking up a lot of my writing time. But not so much time that I didn't make room for Connor and Allison's story in my schedule. When I wrote Team Player, the first book in this series, I didn't know it was a series or who the next book might feature, until, at the very end, Ty and Connor share an exchange and I thought, "Ohhhh. You think Allison's difficult now? You're next, Whitman!"
Writing this book wasn't easy. I got 70,000 words in before realizing it just wasn't right. *le sigh* So I scrapped everything except the main characters and the bare minimum of the plot, gave it some thought, and decided the voice was the problem. I was trying to write in third person past to keep it consistent with Team Player, but it just wasn't working for this story. Do I wish it hadn't taken me 70K to figure that out? Yes, definitely. But was the rewrite the right idea? Oh, absolutely. This book is super funny, super steamy, and I have to admit, I tear up at the end on each re-read, and I'm someone who only cries when watching videos about dogs being adopted.
The release date for this one is March 30, 2020, and if you buy between now and then, you'll get the super special pre-order price of $2.99! On release day it will bump up to its regular price of $4.99.
If you haven't read Team Player and you've been beating yourself up, you can stop now. The cover just got a sexy facelift, and for the month of March, it'll be just $0.99. Still wondering if you should invest the time and money? Here's what my mom had to say about it: "Oh, thank God, it was good. I was worried it'd be as boring as all your baseball games I had to watch when you were younger." Aww!
I posted the first chapter on my website for those who prefer to sample before they buy, and if you're a reviewer, ARCs should be on NetGalley on March 1. Check out my website & social media in the coming weeks to sign up!
