Last month I had the pleasure of attending the UNSW Law 30 Year Alumni Reunion, it was wonderful to see the classes of 1984 and 1985 reunite, reconnect and update each other on the years since graduation. UNSW human rights lawyer Professor Megan Davis has been elected Chair of the United Nation's Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues. She was elected unopposed to the UN position this week at the opening of the forum’s fourteenth session in New York. Read more
A UNSW Law research team, led by Scientia Professor Ross Buckley, has become well-known internationally for their work on the regulation of mobile money. This year researchers from the team have flown to Dili to assist in setting up a bank-led mobile money system in Timor-Leste. Read more

The United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) and the Centre for Law Markets and Regulation are holding a forum on 28 April showcasing UNCTAD’s current and forthcoming activities to visiting global competition law regulators. Ahead of national elections to be held in Myanmar in late 2015, UNSW’s Gilbert & Tobin Centre for Public Law and the Australia-Myanmar Constitutional Democracy Project hosted a panel discussion focused on what lies ahead for the law reform process in Myanmar. Read more
