Canton Republican Club Formed

We are a group of informed, active, and positive individuals who love Canton, Michigan. We have formed with the goal of promoting these general principals: individual liberty, personal responsibility, free enterprise, fiscal and monetary prudence, limited and efficient government, and self-reliance.  We firmly believe that these principles are the best for the individual, for the family, for the community, and for government.

As a local political organization we are inclusive of all types of individuals – both traditional & non-traditional conservatives and all persons within the liberty minded spectrum (not just social conservatives). We will increase visibility of the Republican Party in Canton by discussing local issues affecting citizens of Canton and holding events on a wide range of topics. We encourage healthy debate with the goal of truth.

Meetings are held the third Saturdays of the month and everyone is welcome.

For more information about our upcoming events, please check out our website, our Facebook page – Canton Republicans, or you can email us at

We look forward to getting to know you as we grow in Canton.

Commissioner Barone Ready to Make Tough Votes

Newly appointed, Wayne County Commissioner, Joe Barone was ceremoniously sworn in to serve the 10th District (Canton Township, Plymouth and Plymouth Township) by Judge James Plakas, his one-time political opponent in a race for a seat as a 35th District Court Judge.  During the May 12th swearing in ceremony, Barone expressed his gratitude and eagerness to serve the residents of the 10th district, but did not shy away from his willingness to do the right thing and make the tough votes necessary to put Wayne County on the right track.

"Wayne County faces some enormous challenges", said Barone.  "As your Commissioner, I will fight for greater transparency, accountability and fiscal responsibility.  The days where the Wayne County Commission acted as a rubber stamp for the County Executive are gone and kicking the can down the road for the next generation is unacceptable!” Barone added.

Commissioner Barone replaces newly appointed Plymouth Township Supervisor, Shannon Price and vowed to continue Shannon's effort to end the 10th district's role as a donor district for Wayne County.   "Shannon served our community honorably and I will work tirelessly to continue his efforts to bring our hard earned tax dollars back to the 10th district" Barone continued.  "I am humbled by this opportunity to serve our community and look forward to working for you!"

Commissioner Barone serves on the following committees: Public Services, Health & Human Services, Government Operations.
