Order free plants for your yard, balcony, or window sill

Flowers and plants make our properties more welcoming and attractive. Gardening gets people out into the sun with their hands in the earth. It's a great conversation starter with neighbours, and it's satisfying to grow your own food. Each spring, CCOC volunteers and staff deliver thousands of flowering annuals, vegetables, and herb plants to tenants.

Want to volunteer? Contact 613-234-4065, ext 243 or natalia.snajdr@ccochousing.org.

Find the plant order form online here.

Flower and Kitchen Garden Guide

We've got a complete list of all plants and flowers available through CCOC's plant program on our website!

Do you want to adopt a garden in your shared yard?

CCOC Plant Days provides plants for balconies, yards and window sills. If you want to garden in the landscaped common areas at your building we have a budget to help with costs of plants and tools. We also have books, guides and links to local gardening groups.

CCOC has a new Maintenance Manager!

We're very happy to announce the return of Anne Marie Mason as CCOC's new Maintenance Manager. Anne Marie previously worked for CCOC from 2010 to 2013 as Capital Projects Manager. She returns to CCOC following four years working at Dalhousie University as a project manager in capital construction.

Anne Marie has been working in facilities management since 1986, and has completed a variety of courses in facility management and project management in addition to her degree in Political Science.

Although Anne Marie very much enjoyed her time out east, she was excited for the opportunity to come back to CCOC and says housing is in her blood after 15 years spent in the sector. The move has also allowed her to be closer to her husband and four adult children, who she says still play a big role in her life. When she's not at work, Anne Marie enjoys spending time with her family (including two big dogs) and is a voracious reader.

"I love working with the team at CCOC, and I'm so happy to be back in an environment that allows me to use my skills for a good cause."

Have a say in how your housing is run

If you're interested in affordable housing, diverse communities, sustainable living and social justice, CCOC's board or committees might be a great place for your energy and experience.

Run for a seat on our board: Each year in May, CCOC's membership elects new members to the Board of Directors - the volunteers who make the big decisions about how CCOC is run.

Join a committee: Everyone is welcome to attend our committee meetings.

Become a member: Buying an annual $3 membership lets you run for the board, join a committee and vote at our annual general meeting.

Contact Meg at meg.mccallum@ccochousing.org or 613-234-4065, ext 240 for more information.

Thanks to Preston Hardware

CCOC gives each new tenant a Welcome Kit when they move in. The kits include a recycling bag, toilet plunger, toilet paper, baking soda for green cleaning, and lots of information to help tenants go green and to find their way around their new neighbourhood.

Preston Hardware generously sponsors these welcome kits by donating free plungers to CCOC. Located at 248 Preston Street, Preston Hardware has been in business since 1945. It is one of the main suppliers for CCOC's maintenance department, and is within walking and cycling distance or a short bus ride for the majority of CCOC tenants. They are open Monday through Saturday.

Thanks, Preston Hardware!
