Today’s “Yes”

Above our kitchen sink “lives” an Albert Einstein bobble head.  No matter what I ask him, he always nods, “yes.”  It’s very encouraging, especially first thing in the morning.  Perhaps Mary Magdalene felt this magnified a thousand-fold when Jesus, resurrected, appeared before her proclaiming “yes,” with his very being.  Yes, to life.  Yes, to love.  Yes, to what is to come.  Read more…..

Dear Mid Maine Churches,

Mechuwana has been blessed with a large number of missions groups this summer. Some of the groups are very large, because of the larger numbers we are currently looking for missions projects.  If you have anyone in your community that could use some help pleased contact us.

These are examples of projects that we have worked on in the past:

1. Basic repairs to parsonages
2. Repainting and cleaning of Church kitchens or dinning areas
3. General yard cleaning for people who might not be able to do their own work
4. Putting in fire  wood
5. House painting, (we can not paint very high up)
6. Basic House repairs,
7. Putting on wheelchair ramps
8. We have done some construction projects and have some very skilled volunteers, each project would have to be looked at to see if we could accomplish what needs to be done.

These are a few examples, we would love to hear from you if you have any needs.

Sincerely,

Norman Thombs

2017 Appointment Announcements

Please follow the link for up to date appointment announcements in the New England Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church
From Strength to Strength: Developing Asset-based Ministries, Rev. Dr. Lynne Caldwell

The same workshop will be repeated in three MidMaine locations
April 28, 5:30-8:30 PM hosted by Brunswick UMC
April 29, 9:00AM-1:00 PM hosted by Belfast UMC
April 30, 1:00-4:00 PM hosted by Auburn UMC

Description: Through facilitated dialogue and guided leadership development exercises, Dr. Caldwell will assist participants in celebrating core values and strengths, already giving life to their faith communities, and then guide a process for imagining new ways of reconfiguring assets for dynamic ministries with high impact potential in their own backyards.

These workshops are for LAITY and CLERGY, and are most effective when clergy attend with lay members of their churches.  I highly encourage folks to come as a team from their church.  They will be able to do the best work together, rather than one representative trying to take back the information or the exercises.  Read more...
