The first step can be the hardest, and often involves overcoming fear.  Luke’s gospel is full of first steps, beginning with the pre-nativity story. Again and again we see people confront their fear while God sends the words:

Be.
Not.
Afraid.

A message from Rev. David Calhoun

I am the cabinet liaison to the United Methodist Men in New England, and we are gathering information about how many active men’s groups we have in the conference. If a church in your district has a group of men that gets together for breakfast and discussion, for instance; or a bible studies, work projects etc., we would like to know which church it is, the type of group, and a contact person.

Would you please help me in gathering this information by sending an email to the churches in your districts? Your assistance is greatly appreciated! If you have questions, please let me know. My email is dcalhoun@neumc.org

Blessings to you all . . .

David

Maine State Law now requires that all mandated reporters complete the Maine state training in person or on line.
Our goal is to have all clergy trained by 2018 church conferences.

ONLINE TRAINING

The purpose of this training is to promote child safety by increasing the knowledge of mandated reporters regarding the identification of the signs of abuse and neglect and explaining the process for reporting abuse.

The objectives of the training are to:
• define the role of mandated reporters.

• identify behavioral and physical indicators of child abuse or neglect.
• understand steps necessary to make a Child Protective Services report.

Online training (as a PowerPoint or PDF) on the website of the State of Maine Child and Family Services office here

Those clergy who complete the training are asked to contact the District Office to record that information.
