Thank you!

Thank you! I am honored that the voters of Racine & Kenosha Counties have re-elected me to serve as their Senator in Madison for the next four years. I look forward to working with our area representatives, Speaker Robin Vos, Representative Samantha Kerkman, and Representative-Elect Bob Wittke, to improve our little corner of the state!

Wanggaard Elected Caucus Chairman

The incoming Republican senators met last week to begin discussing our plans for the next two years. I am happy to report that Republican senators unanimously elected me to serve as caucus chairman again this session.

The 2019 Senate Republican Caucus will have a 19-14 majority next session, which is where we began 2018. We do have some new faces, however. Senator-Elect Andre Jacque (R-DePere) defeated Senator Caleb Frostman (who replaced Frank Lasee) in the 1st District. Senator-Elect Dale Kooyenga (R-Brookfield) replaced Senator Leah Vukmir (who ran for US Senate) in the 5th District. Finally, Senator-Elect Kathy Bernier (R-Lake Hallie) replaced Senator Terry Moulton, who retired.

100th Anniversary of Veterans Day

On Monday, I was honored to speak at the Burlington VFW’s celebration of the 100th Anniversary of Veterans Day (originally known as Armistice Day). The Burlington High School Band did a great job performing at the ceremony.  Thank you to all who have served.

Congratulations Burlington High School and Catholic Central High School Volleyball Teams!

A big congratulations on bringing home the state championships to the Burlington High School and Catholic High School Volleyball teams!

Handmade Ornaments for the Capitol Christmas Tree

Two years ago, the St. John's Lutheran School in Burlington made ornaments for the Capitol Christmas tree.  This is a photo of one of the adorable squirrels that hung in the Capitol.

This year, interested students are asked to make ornaments for the 2018 State Capitol Christmas Tree.  The theme is "America's Dairyland".

Dairy themed ornaments should be sent to address below by Friday, November 23rd.

I can't wait to see all of the handmade Christmas decorations!

At the Capitol

Two groups from Karcher Middle School in Burlington visited the Capitol last week.  Welcome Karcher!

In the District

Last week, I had the pleasure of celebrating two Eagle Court of Honors.  First, I joined Representative Samantha Kerkman and former County Board Supervisor Kim Bruenig in celebrating with Eagle Scout Alex Rubenacker at Camp Oh-Da-Ko-Ta in Burlington.
Second, I celebrated with Eagle Scout Josep Ferrer at Faithbridge Church in Franskville.  Good job Scouts!

I joined nearly 40 local leaders at the Kenosha County Council of Government meeting last weekend. The Village of Bristol hosted the biannual meeting. It's always a good opportunity to discuss state and local issues with local leaders.

Last weekend I visited the Racine County Line Rifle Club to participate in the annual deer sighting event.   Hunters were getting ready for the Saturday, November 17th opening day of the nine day gun season for deer hunting in Wisconsin.  It was a cold day to be outside.
