Governor Calls $100 million Special Session on School Safety

As you know, school safety has become the number one issue around the state and country over the last few weeks. Over that time, I've been talking with students, parents, teachers, law enforcement, colleagues, and the Governor about improving security in our schools.
That's why I'm glad that Governor Walker has called for a Special Session on School Safety. I have been discussing ideas with the Governor's office for weeks regarding this very important issue. Several of the proposals we discussed have made it onto the Governor's comprehensive school safety plan, including: the creation of an $100 million School Safety Grant Program under the Office of School Safety, requiring mandatory reporting for any threats of school violence, strengthening school safety plan requirements and encouraging cooperation with local law enforcement. I look forward to advancing school safety measurements to help keep our schools safe.
