All club actvities suspended from Thursday
Last night the Prime Minister announced England was to go back into a national lockdown from Thursday 5th November. The club has suspended all activities from this Thursday until further notice.
England Athletics have yet to issue new guidance, but two passages from the government's announcement which may be relevant to running include:
"You can exercise or visit outdoor public places with the people you live with, your support bubble, or 1 person from another household."

"Indoor and outdoor leisure facilities such as bowling alleys, leisure centres and gyms, sports facilities" will close.

Return to the Track

In bittersweet news, as you will have also seen, Club President Alan Curtis sent out a whole club email on Saturday stating that group training re-commenced on the newly reopened Ladywell Track last Thursday night.
Lewisham Council Leisure Services has appointed a new operator GLL, which operates as the "Better" brand. Only key user groups have Arena access at predetermined times (Kent AC, S-Factor, and the two football clubs). More details regarding our future relationship with Lewisham and GLL will be shared with members at the forthcoming AGM.
The Arena is NOT open to the public and is only staffed on our club nights for H&S and security purposes. You cannot just turn up on a club night - you must join an organised session.

It is currently planned that group training will go ahead this Tuesday night (November 3rd).  Group coaches / coordinators will be in touch with additional information, but if you plan to attend you must complete the COVID-19 declaration form by 6pm Tuesday  If you have not received the email from Alan please let us know by responding to this email.

Club AGM - 7:30pm, Wednesday 25th November
Due to current circumstances, the AGM this year will be held via Zoom - but the format will remain the same. Please use this meeting as an opportunity to share your views, influence club issues and talk to other members and the committee about your club. Please see the agenda here.

Physical Activity Consultation
As you may have read last week, Lewisham Council is developing a 10-year Physical Activity and Healthy Lifestyle Strategy for the borough - have your voice heard by filling in the survey below:

"We have developed an online survey for people who live, work or study in Lewisham, which asks questions about your levels of physical activity, your preferences, the facilities you use and changes to your levels of physical activity due to the Coronavirus pandemic."
Children and Young People
Secret Showdown
This week saw more spectacular racing as Kent AC gathered once more at Beckenham Place Park
for what has been this year’s most consistently staged cross country fixture. HUGE thanks to Pete Lighting and Jonathan Tipper for organising these events over the last four weeks. While the series will be taking a break due to the new restrictions we look forward to the league continuing in months to come. Pete and Jonathan have done a great job with their incredibly fun to read race reports and you can read this and previous weeks reports here.

Herne Hill Harriers Halloween Endurance meeting
In a ‘treat’ for track fans, Herne Hill put on a rare October track meet at the Battersea Millennium
Track on Saturday. A number of Kent runners raced across the 1500m and 3000m with some strong age group placings:

Kieran John Fitzpatrick - 4:54.1

Teresa Murphy, 11.06.1, 2nd V40 Female
Paul McCrone, 11:15.1, 3rd V50 Male

RunThrough Lee Valley 5k
Congratulations to Jamie McCall on running a 5k PB at the Lee Valley Halloween 5k on Saturday with
a swift 17.34 on an undulating course!

RunThrough Olympic Park
In windy conditions this morning several Kent athletes tackled the rolling and twisting Olympic Park
10k course in what may be the last race opportunity for members for a while. Benedict Holmes ran
36.51, Georgina Wiley 38.25 for first female, and Laurie Garrett 38.50 for an almost two and a half
minute PB.

Well done to all runners who have made the most of a limited season over the last few months and we look forward to when races can commence again!
It is unlikely there will be more races in England over the next four weeks. We will make sure to keep you updated if we hear of racing opportunities and please do let us know any that you may hear of by replying to this email.
As per the email sent out by Alan on Saturday ALL Training Groups must complete the Covid-19 Self Declaration form before attending training on Tuesday.
