LESS THAN TWO WEEKS TO APPLY FOR THE 2017 SUMMER DOCUMENTARY PROGRAM IN PORTLAND!
With applications rolling in, there are less than two weeks remaining for students to apply for our 2017 Summer Documentary Program. But it's not too late! We are currently conducting interviews and looking for a few more aspiring media makers to join us for summer. Learn more about what we do all summer at mediamakingchange.org/sdp and email rose@mediamakingchange.org with questions, to submit an application by April 7th, or just to say hey! What is this awesome program all about? Either way, Rose would love to hear from you.
THE NON-PROFIT HOUR TUESDAY AT 1PM WITH LATINO NETWORK & WORLD FORESTRY CENTER!
In this week's new episode of our radio show on XRAY.FM, we speak with Lizzie Martinez, the Development and Communications Director for Latino Network. Her organization aims to positively transform the lives of latino youth, families, and communities through education and empowerment. Next we'll hear from Eric Vines, the Executive Director of the World Forestry Center (WFC). WFC is an international non-profit dedicated to connecting people to the importance of forests and sustainable forestry. Tune in to learn about two nonprofits making change in our city, cultivating and enriching lives for our people and our trees.

THE NON-PROFIT HOUR
Busy at 1pm on Tuesdays? You can listen to our new episodes of The Non-Profit Hour on the following Mondays at 6am on XRAY.FM, and access all of our episodes at every hour (and become a sustaining member) at mediamakingchange.org/nph. CITIZEN: A SPACE FOR MEDIA CLASSES AND EVENTS
Last week the Media Institute for Social Change celebrated a soft opening of our new space for classes and events, Citizen. Thanks to all of you who joined us! Constuction continues on the Media Institute's new space on North Mississippi Avenue, but we wanted to take a moment and express our gratitude for the donation of materials from The ReBuilding Center, and are so impressed by the great work from Zacharry Cokeley, who's building a table for our filmmaker dinners. Thanks everyone and stay tuned for more news on Citizen!
DO YOU LIVE IN PORTLAND AND HAVE A ROOM TO SPARE? HOST A STUDENT JUNE 28TH - AUGUST 10TH
We're currently seeking friendly Portlanders to host our students during the Summer Documentary Program. MISC hopes to create the best opportunities for our students by introducing them to inspiring community members, teaching them important production and storytelling tools, and asking them to create their own documentaries about social change. Home stays are one way to help make the program affordable, but are also a unique chance for students to be a part of Portland and meet some amazing Portlanders along the way. If you think your household would make a good home stay, or you would like to learn more about hosting a student, please email rose@mediamakingchange.org
