Breaking New Ground: The 2020 Borlaug Dialogue
The 2020 Borlaug Dialogue kicked off today with a series of lively online discussions. The 2020 theme "Breaking New Ground: Building Resilience Today for Improved Global Food Systems Tomorrow" is especially poignant with the Covid-19 pandemic this year, but also looks at the more long-term impacts of climate change on our food systems, and what we can do now to prepare and spring back from future shocks and stresses.

Day One Themes: Carbon Sequestration and Investing in Innovation
Agriculture and land use are responsible for up to 25% of global greenhouse gas emissions. In the first roundtable, participants highlighted agriculture's important role in carbon sequestration, including different carbon market models, scaling up carbon payment systems, as well as how to drive innovation towards climate-positive agriculture. In the second roundtable of the day, participants focused on innovative finance and investment mechanisms for food systems transformation.
