Holidays are coming...Holidays are coming...

Are you looking forward to a summer holiday as a relaxing break or realising that it means half the year has gone already..?!

Getting the job done can often mean getting your head down and just pushing through the task list in military style. This doesn't give any time or thought to 'What's next..?' or 'Why are we doing it this way..?' or even 'Is this what I'm in business to do..?' As business leaders we are often surrounded with advice on productivity hacks or 10 Top Tips style articles. But where does the opportunity for you to Pause; Reflect; & Revise come from...? If you are an owner-manager, your sounding board might be your partner or a trusted friend, but can they offer neutral advice with no agenda or outcome hinged on your decision and actions...?
If you are a manager in a larger organisation working with multi-disciplinary teams, do you have a trusted confidant that is impartial and an equal with whom you can discuss matters in a constructive, honest and non-judgmental way..?
An outside consultant can often provide a neutral zone for you to off-load, un-pick and understand issues and then build action plans to move forward effectively. Sometimes this only takes a couple of hours and it can be a vital asset to small business owners and organisational leaders. Who wouldn't want a rational professional sounding board for an ally every once in a while..!? If you could do with a mid-year boost to get you back on track with your annual plan then try a coach consultant and get in touch today for a chat.

Holiday season can also cause anxiety in other ways as various media outlets advise us on the latest 'Beach Body Guide or 'Clean Eating Rules'. I follow lots of what I would call sensible fitness leaders, using this rule of thumb - if they have an olympic medal they are alright by me! Sally Gunnell and Dame Kelly Holmes are my current favourites and they promote lots of straightforward simple advice that is evidence based and accessible by all. Another source of information is from our great NHS - after all they've been supporting and healing us for over 67 years now! If one of your goals this year was to enhance your personal wellbeing, try one of their free downloads to get you kick started.
The current trend for organisational wellbeing initiatives also shows no sign of slowing down either. Suggestions range from exercise at work; free fruit; mindfulness courses etc which are all great additions but at the end of the day everyone must take a personal responsibility for their own wellbeing and organisations need to engage with their workers to find out what this might be. Group or individual facilitation with an external consultant can bring in current research and best practice from other businesses and help embed a wellness culture that benefits everyone not just the 'fitness freaks'.
