Welcome to ‘The Good News’ for the week of February 9, 2021!

Next Good News February 23rd
The Good News will be sent on the Second and the Fourth Tuesday of each month.  Special “All Church” announcements will be sent periodically as needed. If you have an article you would like in the Good News, please make sure it is emailed to before February 5th.

Loving God, thank you that in your love, forgiveness and compassion you did not abandon all that you have made but came amongst us in your Son, Jesus Christ, to heal, guide and transform. May your life and love truly inform and shape all our hearts and minds for the challenges and the opportunities that lie before us.

For those who struggle, may there be comfort and release; for those who would bring relief, may there be wisdom and strength; and for those who lead, and for us all, may eyes and minds, hearts and hands be open to see, love and respond, as you see, love and respond, for the sake and love of all.

Jesus’ Unwavering Love…a “call out of darkness into a great Light!”

 Lent: February 17 – April 2
Lent comes from the Anglo Saxon word lencten, meaning “lengthen” and refers to the lengthening days of spring. The forty days represent the time Jesus spent in the wilderness, enduring the temptation of Satan and preparing to begin His ministry.

Ash Wednesday Service -  February 17, 7:00 pm
This service will be available via Facebook Live, Live Stream on our website and in person.  You will also be able to join and participate via Zoom.  Please look for our special Ash Wednesday Ready To Worship for more details.

Sunday Worship Series in Lent - 9:15 & 11:00
You won’t want to miss these six Sundays leading to Easter.  At Cason we will be immersed in the “Things of God…The Marks of Love!” with special music, three individuals grappling with the season and a message from Pastor Alexis and Pastor David that will stir you to look deep inside for all God has for you through Christ’s sacrifice and death.

April 1, Maundy Thursday – an evening of personal and guided prayer, 7 p.m. – 8 p.m.
April 2, Good Friday Service – 7 p.m.
April 4, Resurrection Day, Easter Sunday – “REJOICE!”
For a relatively small church, we are truly blessed at Cason to have so many talented musicians, both instrumental and vocal.  Therefore, the Worship Design Team has set aside Sunday, February 14th, as Music Ministry Appreciation Sunday. February 14th is also Valentine’s Day – what better time to show the love and appreciation we have for these musicians who give so freely of their time and talent to help us all worship and glorify God.  On this day, special music will be shared at both services. Please plan to come or tune in to see these talented musicians at work as we worship God, together and give Him glory.

If you would care to send a card or make a special contribution to the Music Ministry at Cason, you can get an envelope from the usher when you arrive on Sunday morning; go to and make a donation; text 561-903-2279; or drop off a love offering to the Cason office during office hours. It would be greatly appreciated!
Don’t miss a choir rehearsal THIS THURSDAY, February 11th, with Ed and your choir buddies! Seats will be placed apart so that everyone will be socially distant and not close to one another.  We are also excited as we plan the Lenten and Easter season with great music. If you have any questions or concerns please contact Ed at 561-601-4912 or

The Power of Jesus Names

Some names live in infamy, and some names inspire the greatest kinds of hope. But there is one name above all other names, and it belongs to the Son of God, Jesus. Jesus is the most unique person who’s ever lived, and his names carry with them great weight.

Sermon Thoughts 2:43-47, The Message
Everyone around was in awe—all those wonders and signs done through the apostles! And all the believers lived in a wonderful harmony, holding everything in common. They sold whatever they owned and pooled their resources so that each person’s need was met. They followed a daily discipline of worship in the Temple followed by meals at home, every meal a celebration, exuberant and joyful, as they praised God. People in general liked what they saw. Every day their number grew as God added those who were saved.

I am nearly blown away with joy as I think of all that Cason is and “is doing!” Yesterday, at our in-SPIRE worship service, how wonderful to hear what we have done and the goals for the future at Cason.   The mission, ministry and outreach are so exciting to share with others. The day reminded me of Acts 2, Pentecost, when believers came together because of the power of the Holy Spirit.  I sense that kind of stirring at Cason!  The list of what we are into and what will come seems to go on: In-SPIRE Sunday and ministry; Music Ministry Appreciation Sunday; Ash Wednesday; Lent; food distribution; Children’s Sunday School; Small Group Studies; partnerships with Eat Better, Live Better, and Living Hungry and CROS ministries; Holy Communion to those who cannot get out; office volunteer ministry and so much more that you will see as you read through your editions of The Good News.
My prayer is, first of all, that over this next year, you will pray for Cason.  And next, that you would consider how you will be part of the ministry here at Cason.  Some roll up their sleeves and dive into a ministry event.  I call them sparklers.  Others hear God calling them to long term ministry as an office volunteer or serving as a chairperson or committee member on one of Cason’s in-SPIRE pillars or through an administrative ministry as a member of Finance, Trustees, Staff/Pastor Parish or Nominations.  I call these persons candles.  Whether a sparkler or a candle, God needs you at Cason to promote and further His Kingdom.  Will you take part in our Vision:  Where All Will Find and Know the Love of God?
