'You’re the target…Say No to Tobacco' Poster Competition
The competition is part of an annual joint stakeholder World No Tobacco Day observance. This competition is run by the Jamaica Cancer Society and supported by Jamaica National and the Jamaica Coalition for Tobacco Control (JCTC) and the winners are announced at the awards ceremony of the  National Schools “No Tobacco Poster and DJ Competition” held at the Knutsford Court Hotel on June 1 staged by the Ministry of Health and supported by the Jamaica Cancer Society,  Jamaica Coalition for Tobacco Control and the National Council on Drug Abuse.

The DJ competition was open to students 14-18 years and the winner was selected by their peers who voted on Facebook by “liking” the song of their choice. First place went to a group from Seaforth High School, unfortunately they were unable to attend the awards ceremony because of exams.

The NCD Alliance will be holding their next webinar on Wednesday 17th June at 10:00 – 11:30 am EST/16:00 – 17:30 CET. Please note that there will be only one webinar broadcast. The powerpoint slides and recording will be made available on the NCD Alliance website after the webinar.

A pair of cancer drugs can shrink tumours in nearly 60% of people with advanced melanoma, a new trial has suggested. An international trial on 945 patients found treatment with ipilimumab and nivolumab stopped the cancer advancing for nearly a year in 58% of cases. Read more
