Election of the First African Director-General of the the World Health Organisation

Today was an historic day at the 70th World Health Assembly in Geneva. Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus from Ethiopia became the first African to to be elected as Director-General of the World Health Organisation.
The Board of Directors of the Healthy Caribbean Coalition and its members congratulate Dr Adhanom Ghebreyesus on his election and look forward to accelerated action in the face of the urgent global crisis of NCDs.
