FHADIMAC Launches the first Diabetic Foot Clinic in Haiti

On Friday April 24th, 2015, Fondation Haitienne de Diabète et de Maladies Cardio-Vasculaires (FHADMIC) opened the doors of the first Diabetic Foot Clinic in Haiti. Project Manager, Dr. Regine Lefevre, gave the HCC BPCCA I (link to project page) project team a tour during their visit. UNIATF on the Prevention and Control of NCDs in Barbados
In September 2011, Heads of State and Government adopted the Political Declaration on NCDs at the High-level Meeting of the General Assembly.  Subsequently, in July 2013, the UN Secretary-General established the United Nations Interagency Task Force on the Prevention and Control of NCDs.
The aim of the task force is to ensure a coherent UN System response to scale up technical assistance in support of national efforts to address NCDs in line with the Global NCD Action. Read more

Food Revolution Day 2015: Join the campaign!
Food Revolution Day will be celebrated on 15 May 2015. It is a global campaign by Jamie Oliver to put compulsory practical food education back on the school curriculum and raise awareness about the global obesity epidemic. "We’re currently facing a global obesity epidemic, 42 million children under the age of five are either overweight or obese across the world and NCDs, which include diet-related diseases, are the worlds biggest killers. The bottom line is the next generation will live shorter lives than their parents if nothing is done to rectify these alarming stats", said Oliver. Read more

The World Heart Federation's Vision for Worldwide Cardiovascular Disease Prevention

An article laying out WHF's vision was published in the Lancet on 16 April. It expands on the following to provide a list of nine steps to help reach the 25x25 goal:

POSDEVAL Information and Communications Officer - Based in Barbados

Position Summary
The Information and Communications Officer will be a part-time post based at the Healthy Caribbean Coalition Secretariat in Barbados. The individual will be required to work closely with CARPHA Communication department, the Regional Health Communication Network (RHCN), CARICOM and PAHO, to research, prepare, and disseminate information pertinent to the Port of Spain Evaluation (POSDEVAL).
