Charter Halibut Committee
The North Pacific Fishery Management Council (NPFMC) is currently seeking nominations for seats on the Charter Halibut Management Committee. One open seat will be awarded to a Southeast (2C) representative from a small community, to complement members from Juneau and Sitka. Another seat will be awarded to a Southcentral (3A) representative from a community off of the road system (looking at you, Yakutat).
Members of this Committee have the important task of reviewing our catch data and Fish & Game analysis to make recommendations for next year's charter halibut regulations. Nominations are open until March 31, and the representatives will be named at the April Council meeting. The BOF is accepting proposals for its 2017-2018 cycle
, including Southeast and Yakutat Finfish and Shellfish. SEAGO is seeking proposal suggestions we can research, propose, discuss with the Sportfish division, and advocate for with you or on your behalf. Reply to this e-mail today with your proposals.
: A short training session on participating in the BOF process. Learn how to maximize your 3 minutes, how the meetings work, and what to consider when working with the BOF members. By understanding the process better, you can learn when and how you can make an impression, and feel more comfortable doing it.
