“Advancing Racial Equity: Expanding Knowledge and Organizing for Actions”

February 17th from 6 to 8 pm at the Discovery Room, Science Museum of Minnesota (directions)

Please join your colleagues, friends and neighbors at the Advancing Racial Equity Speaker Series. The topic will be “Advancing Racial Equity: Expanding Knowledge and Organizing for Actions”.

The event will be from 6:00 to 8:00 pm and the program will be from 6:30 to 7:45 pm. You will be able to explore the “Race: Are We So Different?” exhibit before and after the program, and light refreshments will be available.

The program will feature:

  • Joanne Jones-Rizzi, Director of Community Engagement at the Science Museum of Minnesota
  • Diana Falchuk, Deputy Director of the City of Seattle Race and Social Justice Initiative (RSJI) and project manager of an organizing effort in Seattle that used the “Race: Are We So Different?” exhibit to educate and organize actions to advance racial equity in Seattle, and
  • Benita Horn, a community leader in Seattle who worked with Diana and RSJI to train over a hundred facilitators to work with a broad swath of organizations to visit the exhibit, participate in facilitated dialogues and make commitments to take action.

Advancing Racial Equity Speaker Series events are open to everyone, so please share this information broadly!

Using the “Race: Are We So Different?” Exhibit for Facilitated Conversations About Advancing Racial Equity

Diana and Benita will offer a “train-the-trainer” session for people who would like to facilitate organized pre- and post-exhibit discussions. The exhibit is an incredible opportunity to educate and share information, AND can also be used to increase organizational commitments to taking action to advance racial equity.

The train-the-trainer session will be in Saint Paul on February 17th from 9am to 4pm.

Additional logistical information will be provided upon registration. Registration is required
