Sathya Sai Aradhana Mahotsavam
in Durban, South Africa
Dear Friends,

24th April 2017 was commemorated by the SSIO around the world in grateful memory of Sri Sathya Sai Baba. The SSIO of South Africa paid a moving tribute to the life and teachings of Baba on 30th April 2017, at the Chatsworth Stadium in Durban at an event that drew about 10,000 people.

Members of the SSIO gathered at 6:30 am for the morning ceremonies which commenced with the hoisting of the country’s flag. A torch symbolising the Lamp of Love was lighted to lead a parade with the theme, “Love All, Serve All”, which was followed by a procession lead by a magnificent golden chariot that represented the omnipresence of Divinity.
Sathya Sai children organised a Values March in which the teachings of the major religions where displayed, emphasising the five universal human values, and hundreds of orange and white balloons were released into the blue sky.

Thereafter, national and Zonal leaders welcomed the audience, including the representative of the Premier of KwaZulu Natal, who extolled the teachings of love and selfless service of Sathya Sai Baba.
Enthralling dramas and multi-cultural dances by SSE children and Sathya Sai Young Adults entertained the audience. They were accompanied by Sufi and Christian groups that offered musical renditions from their respective faith traditions.
Dr. Narendranath Reddy, Mr. Leonardo Gutter and Dr. William Harvey of the Prasanthi Council, who attended this momentous event, shared the universal message and divine love of Sathya Sai Baba and the humanitarian service projects undertaken by the SSIO.
