Very good question! My apologies for not keeping you up to date with all the quilting activities I have been involved in but it's never too late!
Is there a link between between the Embassy of Canada in Washington and quilting?
There sure is! This past Spring, I had the opportunity to go to Washington on vacation and as you know, quilting is on my mind all the time even on holidays! As we were walking by the Canadian Embassy, I saw that there was a special exhibit of quilts. Needless to say that we went for a visit!
The exhibit was produced to celebrate Canada`s 150th and was presented at the 2017 Houston Quilt Show. It was a collaboration between American and Canadian quilters to commemorate our long friendship. Beautiful quilts depicting Canada at its best.
But what really caught my eye was that moose. It really made me laugh. Look closely at his but. Now was this added piece intentional or something happened when the quilter was working on it and she had to hide it some way? I don't know the answer but whether it was made on purpose or to hide a flaw, what a nice detail!! Everything is possiblie in quilting!!
The last few months have been busy with developing new courses and delivering new workshops in my studio and also at Quilt et Coton in Buckingham and now at Quilters Barn and Gifts in Russell. I also had the privilege of helping out my friend, Karine Chapleau of Inspired Getaways at her booth at Quilt Canada. It was so much fun to reconnect with some of you.
The Fall is going to be busy and full of quilting activities. Here is a sample of what is coming up:
October 19th: Country Chic with Claire Marshall
Sunday November 17: Collage Technique by Laura Heine
Saturday November 2: Lunch on a roll 2.0 This is my creation. In the spirit of reducing waste, here is a beautiful placemat to bring to work or on a picnic. It has a hidden pocket for utensils. No more plastic utensils! It makes a beautiful Christmas gift
November 28-30: Retreat at Inspired Getaways: The Amethyst Bag
And of course sew-in days, EPP pizza nights and Sew-in days at MIFO. Please check my website (laquiltingcoach.ca) for full details.
Looking forward to quilt with you this Fall
