Come For The Day - Sept. 19th

Saturday, September 19th is going to be a jammin' day in Evansville. Start the day with PARKSFEST in Garvin Park. Begins at 11am and is FREE. Music all day with celebrity musicians like Shooter Jennings and Davina & the Vagabonds. Fourteen acts in all along with kids' games, arts, brews, bands, and family fun. Oh, yeah, and it's FREE!

Stay For The Night - Sept. 19th

Beginning at 4pm, the annual EVANSVILLE JAZZ & WINE FESTIVAL opens on Main Street in downtown Evansville. Three stages, twelve music performers - including the Evansville Philharmonic Stage Band - wine vendors, local restaurants preparing their specialty dishes - all the makings of a nightclub under the stars. Yes, there will be dancing in the streets! Tickets can be purchased online at http://evansvillejazzfest.com/

Westside Nut Club Fall Festival! Oct 5th - 10th

Only one place to find this yummy concoction above. At the oldest - 94 yrs young this year. The largest - 100,000 or more people attend each year. The longest - from 11am to 11pm daily for 6 days. And the best #FallFoodFest anywhere - The Westside Nut Club Fall Festival on West Franklin Street! It opens Monday, October 5 through Saturday, October 10 this year. And, yes, it is as fun as its name is funny!

The delicious combo above is called a Crispy Hashbrown BBQ Slider - pork BBQ, cole slaw, onion, cheese on a crispy hashbrown bun. And there are 130+ food booths that offer other delectable dishes like homemade chicken & dumplings, kuchens, corn fritters, buffalo burgers, ostrich jerky, and darn-near anything that can be fried, baked, or covered with chocolate. On the sweet side, how about dreamsicle fudge? Or Amish sweet rolls? And then there is the interesting, some would say, bazaar choices like cricket suckers, pickle juice icees, and brain sandwiches.

Food is the main course but there's more to this streetfest than food. There are rides, a Midway, two stages for entertainment day and night, and three parades. The street itself provides a cultural element. West Franklin Street is one of the oldest streets in the city and lined with businesses, restaurants, bars, and neighborhoods.

There is no admission charged, no gates to enter and no age restrictions. Parking is free on the streets although for $5 you can park in a nearby church or business lot. There is a charge to ride the rides. And you do pay for the food but that is why you're here, right?
