What Legal State Has Been Targeted the Hardest By the Federal Government?
April 24, 2016

As the country’s largest marijuana producer, California has borne the brunt of the federal war on marijuana. In 2014, 62% of the marijuana plants eradicated nationally were in California, down from 72% in 2009. Notably, even though federal marijuana cultivation arrests have fallen nationally by 37%, they have increased in California by 42% since 2009.  With the state on the verge of legalizing adult use, and the DEA seriously debating rescheduling marijuana, California could see a dramatic shift in the way the federal government intervenes in the state’s marijuana markets in the coming year.
