US cannabis industry grew by 90% in 2015
The legal cannabis industry in the US grew by 90 percent last year, but growth is now expected to ease considerably in 2016, according to new research.
 
Industry analysis groups ArcView Market Research and New Frontier said that the industry was likely to grow by 25 percent this year, adding that votes in high-profile states could make 2016 a pivotal year for the US cannabis industry. Their research shows that the marijuana markets grew to $5.4 billion in 2015.

Investing in cannabis: clearer rules needed
When it comes to marijuana, the lines between its various uses – recreational or “adult”, medicinal, as a type of biofuel or a building material – are easily blurred. This week, Agri Investorreported on New Frontier’s research indicating that investment in cannabis grew by 90 percent last year, including the medical and recreational market. A case in point is a leaked Merrill Lynch report that came to light last month and which Agri Investor has cast its eyes over: “Medical cannabis has high POTential” was the headline.

California Cannabis Regulations Bring Many Questions for the Industry
The California cannabis industry was abuzz following the last-minute passage of the Medical Marijuana Regulation and Safety Act (MMRSA) that was passed by the California Assembly at the very end of the legislative session. 

Marijuana entrepreneurs were scrambling to read the MMRSA and have been digesting the implications since. Governor Jerry Brown signed the regulatory bill into law last fall and the New Year starts the implementation process that will be coming into focus over the coming months. California industry participants, experts and advocates will soon be meeting at the International Cannabis Business Conference (ICBC) in February to discuss the latest developments.
