Hi <<First Name>>,

Whether you celebrate Valentine's Day or not, February can always be a month of love! In winter, we have the opportunity to regroup, reflect and prepare for the longer, more active days ahead; a great time for recommitting to self care and self nurturing. Perhaps you will find more time for baths, cooking, movies, board games, cozy dinners with loved ones, sleep or even more massage. However this manifests in your life, I hope you're finding time to say to yourself, "Self, you're pretty swell and I love you!"

We at PCM are committed to providing you with the best care possible! To do so requires growth, change and education. NY LMTs are required by law to take continuing education units (CEUs). Others will take classes to satisfy these requirements, but are not interested in learning and growing. We at PCM know how important it is to stay at the top of our game. We are passionate about massage therapy and often take more than the required amount of CEUs to feed our curious minds and discover more ways to serve you and your wonderful bodies!

We'd like to share the advances we've made in our education and upcoming plans for 2017:
  • This winter, Sophia completed her prenatal and postpartum certification! While we are all capable and happy to work with our pregnant clients; this training emphasized the anatomical and physiological changes a woman's body undergoes during pregnancy, why bodywork is an appropriate and beneficial adjunct to prenatal care, and how massage develops deeper kinesthetic awareness in preparation for labor, birth, and postpartum recovery. This certification has set Sophia up with more tools to take better care of our Moms!
  • Kait completed her certification in Neuromuscular Therapy (NMT) in 2016! This technique allows one to find and relieve trigger points and their referral patterns, often present with chronic pain. NMT is a deep tissue technique that creates change in the soft tissues and allows for more freedom in movement and decreased pain. Kait is available on Fridays only; please plan ahead to ensure you get the appointment that works best for you!
  • Pam was inspired by Kait's experience and began her study of NMT in the Spring and Fall of 2016 and will continue her education this Spring. She finds it to be a great complement to the Myofascial Release work she loves so much. She also plans to complete her certification as a Personal Trainer through NASM by the Fall; not to work as a personal trainer, but to gain more knowledge about the body from a different perspective and to present clients with more self care/exercise offerings.
  • PCM has two new team members: introducing Marcela and Yokasta. We're very excited to welcome these two to our practice! Learn more about them by checking out their bios here.
  • We say goodbye to Ellen this month and wish her the best on her next adventure! 2/1 and 2/5 are your last opportunities to get in your Ellen fix!
Class research continues...

Thank you to PCM clients for recommending NY Loves Yoga! Ben J. and Jackie R. are big fans of Dennis' class and Elizabeth Y. enjoyed working with Lucas. Based on their recommendations, I stopped by to check out a class for myself:

Michelle's Yin Yang Yoga... love it! She won me over immediately with her knowledge of the body, especially fascia (AKA connective tissue). Michelle teaches Tuesday afternoons and Friday evenings.

This class consists of a flow sequence, followed by poses that are held for extended periods: 4 minutes! (When is the last time you held a stretch for 4 minutes?!) It does wonders for your body; I felt my fascia softening and my body letting go and realigning. It's a self massage version of Myofascial release. Very cool! A wonderful compliment to receiving massage therapy. They have a great intro offer for new students, check them out at:

I found them on class pass. If you'd like to receive a $30 discount to try class pass, please use my code: and sign up! You can easily cancel if you decide it's not your thing.

We love hearing from you! Let us know your favorite way to take care of yourself this winter. If you are loving us, Yelp reviews really help us reach others who are looking for the same kind of massage therapy that brought you our way. If you feel inspired to do so, please share the love and leave a review on

Stay warm and healthy this winter and be well,

Pam and the PCM Team
