Congratulations, Hawai'i Nurses!

The Healthcare Association of Hawai'i (HAH) held their 2018 Awards and Scholarship Gala on Saturday, October 20th at Ko'olau Ballrooms in Kaneohe.  The Center would like to congratulate all members of our healthcare community who HAH recognized as Healthcare Heroes, award winners, and scholarship recipients.  We would like to recognize the following members of our nursing community:

Department of Health Urges Health Care Organizations to Prepare for "Our Care, Our Choice" Act

The Hawai‘i Department of Health (DOH) is advising health care organizations statewide to prepare for the Jan. 1, 2019 effective date of the “Our Care, Our Choice Act” which allows adult residents with a medically confirmed terminal disease and less than six months to live the choice to obtain a prescription for medication to end their life. The DOH, guided by an advisory group, is working with the community to establish a process which assures the patient experience is optimal and that patients and their family members fully understand all end-of-life care options.  Continue Reading

Chaminade School of Nursing Receives Donation

Hawai'i Community College nursing program receives over $69,000 to help address healthcare labor shortages on Hawai'i Island
Kaiser Permanente Hawaii awarded $119,000 in community benefit grant funding to three nonprofits, including Hawai‘i Community College on the Big Islandseeking to promote economic opportunity and support workforce development throughout the state.  Continue Reading
Wilcox Health Aims to Keep Staff, Patients Safe from Flu with Immunization Policy
Every day, Wilcox Health employees at Wilcox Medical Center and Kauai Medical Clinic work to help patients get better and stay healthy. To accomplish this goal, it is critical to keep patients and health care personnel safe from health care-acquired infections, including influenza.
