Nursing Outlook: The Quality of Primary Care Provided by Nurse Practitioners to Vulnerable Medicare Beneficiaries

A new study out in Nursing Outlook compared care to three groups provided to Medicare beneficiaries by Primary Care Nurse Practitioners (PCNPs) and physicians to evaluate cost and quality measures. The study found that quality of care provided by PCNPs was overall consistent with the care provided by physicians and resulted in less costly health interventions.

Helene Fuld Health Trust National Institute for Evidence-Based Practice in Nursing and Healthcare 2018 Call for EBP Proposals

Deadline: April 6, 2018

The Helene Fuld Health Trust National Institute for Evidence-based Practice in Nursing and Healthcare is pleased to announce its new grants program, and is calling for applications. This is the first year the institute will be awarding grants, which aim to provide resources to nursing professionals seeking to strengthen their clinical or educational programs through evidence-based practice (EBP). The Fuld Institute for EBP is granting two types of awards.

Nurses Keep Healthy Lead as Most Honest, Ethical Profession

For the 16th consecutive year, Americans' ratings of the honesty and ethical standards of 22 occupations finds nurses at the top of the list. More than eight in 10 (82%) Americans describe nurses' ethics as "very high" or "high." 

'Forget About the Stigma': Male Nurses Explain Why Nursing Is a Job of the Future for Men
According to our 2017 Nursing Workforce Report, 13% of registered nurses working in Hawai`i are men. This is higher than the national proportion of 9%.  

UHM Nursing and The Queen's Health System Receives Exemplary Academic-Practice Partnership Award

In October 2017, University of Hawai‘i  at Mānoa School of Nursing & Dental Hygiene and The Queen’s Health System received the 2017 Exemplary Academic-Practice Partnership Awards at the AACN’s Academic Nursing Leadership Conference in Washington, DC.
