NEW Adult Bible Study coming this fall!
I am very excited to share with you the start of a new adult study this fall. It will be the BIBLE BOOK OF THE MONTH adult seminar that will be held the Second Sunday of each month. It will be held in the Fellowship Hall from 10:30-11:15 am. This is a class in which I will highlight one Book of the Bible each month: its major themes and messages, key passages and other helpful background on the book.  Participants will then be asked to read the Book of the Bible during the month using a guide of suggested passages and study helps.  I will continue the Monday 4-5 pm class on the gospel of John, starting up on Sept. 10th after a summer break.
~ Pastor Durk Peterson
Children, Youth and Family Activities
Happy fall, everyone!  Cross’s Lutheran Youth Group or LYG!!  will start meeting on Sunday, September 16 at 10:15 am (after September, the group will meet on the second Sunday at 10:15 am).

LYG!! is open to all youth in grades 8-12; non-Cross teens are invited to attend too!  The mission of the LYG!! is provide a safe space for teens to connect with one another and have conversation about topics they are facing and how this relates to their faith journey.  Come and check out this group!  Also, Cross will be hosting a teen night at the end of September-watch the Peek for additional information!

Other Important Dates:
  • Sunday, September 23rd: Family Event after JAM (lunch served)
  • Saturday, September 29th: 5-7 pm: Youth Night for Grades 6-12;
    • Non-Members welcome!

As the dog days of summer come to an end, the tell-tale signs of Fall start to arrive. One such sign of Fall is that Cross Choir will be starting back up for the year! We are excited to announce that we will be collaborating with the Sunday school children in their Christmas program and several instrumentalists this year, so you can definitely look forward to some awesome music coming your way.

Please note that Cross Choir is a community group that welcomes all age groups and voice parts. We are hoping to strengthen our sound with even more singers this year and encourage you to join us. All who enjoy singing and lifting up your voice in joyful praise are welcome. New this year: choir members will receive optional, free, 15-minute, weekly voice lessons from Chelsea. Rehearsals will be held Thursdays at 7pm and a few Sundays after church.

Our first rehearsal will be Thursday 9/6. Also, please visit our booth at the Ministry Fair on 9/30 for a chance to win three 30-minute voice or piano lessons!
Contact Chelsea at: chelsea.lloyd@my.uwrf or (507)-269-9786 for more information.
PLAYGROUND UPDATE
By Rally Sunday, you will see our play set back up and ready for kiddos!
Cross is also proceeding with plans to purchase a Noah’s Arc playset which will include a slide, and a rock climbing wall!  The Arc will be set up in addition to our existing playset.  We will also be adding a basketball hoop and either tetherball or frisbee golf to the outdoor area for our older youth (or adults!) to enjoy.

Special thank you to Jim Hartmon, Pam Miles, Melissa Briese, Rachel Welsh and Dan Briese for their research and development on the outdoor play space at Cross. This team has also reviewed ideas from Melissa Briese on adding to our space and creating a fall-safe ground cover (until a decision has been made on a different ground cover, please know that the grass does qualify as fall-safe 😊).

The Building Committee allocated $5,000 towards the cost of renovating our play space
from the original Building Project.

Exciting additions coming to Cross for all to enjoy!
THANK YOU to both of these groups!

Wednesday Night Worship
led by our
contemporary worship team
"BY FAITH"
continues EVERY WEDNESDAY

We are looking for a piano player or guitarist to lead music with the Sunday School kiddos once or twice a month. Please contact Melissa Briese or Amanda Swanson if you are interested and available.

We also need people to fill the weekly minister positions for Fall.  From coffee service, to greeting and ushering.  Several positions available.

Please consider signing up to help!

Thank you!

We are excited at the generous response to the small group sign ups! Small groups are beginning to meet so watch for information from small group leaders if you have signed up. We are grateful for the volunteers who are leading each group. The hope and purpose of these groups is to build relationships and devotional lives in Christ.
