PEEK OF THE WEEK
    week of November 25th, 2018
Proposed 2nd  Worship Service on Sundays and Sunday School Schedule
For the last two months the council has discussed the possibility of adding a 2nd worship service on Sunday mornings.  Why?  Simply put, we want to position or structure our congregation for growth.  When Sunday mornings are nearly full, it is a sign that another service is needed.  We are also giving more options for prospective members and existing members- you can worship early or later on Sundays. With the wide variety of schedules and commitments these days, we as a church need to adjust and offer more options.
Sunday School classes would be structured to begin following the children’s message. This way the children benefit from worship and their class, allowing and encouraging more parents to worship.  Currently, we are structured so that many parents drop their children off for Sunday School and pick them up without worship.

Please know that this is an opportunity for Cross to increase participation of our members and prospective members in worship and Sunday School.

Council suggests that we “pilot” a new schedule Feb-May and then evaluate it.  Here are two options council will choose from based on feedback from the congregation.
Here are the options:

Option 1:

  9:00 - 10:00 am: Worship

  9:15 - 10:15 am: Sunday School,

children leave after Children’s Message

10:00 - 10:30 am: Fellowship

10:30 - 11:30 am: Worship

Option 2:

  8:30 -   9:30 am: Worship

  9:30 - 10:00 am: Fellowship

10:00 - 11:00 am: Worship

10:15 - 11:15 am: Sunday School,

children leave after Children’s Message

Our 7 p.m. Wednesday Contemporary Worship Service will continue year-round. We added this service in April of 2017.  Mindy Dykes and the worship team “Be Faith” are doing and excellent job of leading and building this service.

I would like to thank Katie Tate and Amanda Swanson for their work on this new schedule and helping to facilitate feedback.  In addition, I appreciate the work of our Worship Committee and Children, Youth, and Family Team for their discussion and input.

Please email your comments, questions or suggestions to me (Pastor@robertscrosslutheran.com) or to our Council President, Darin Schlueter (dschlueter@halversoncc.com).

Thanks for your engagement in this process of growing our congregation.

Peace,
-Pastor Durk K. Peterson
