Webinar: Automating Injustice
Save the date: 9 September 2021 | 17:00 CEST / 16:00 BST

Soon, the European Parliament will be debating LIBE's AI in criminal justice report. This report will be crucial in defining how AI systems used by police and judicial authorities will be regulated in the EU. In the run-up to the debate, join us on 9 September to hear about the use of these systems and their harmful impact.

Artificial intelligence (AI) and automated decision-making (ADM) systems are increasingly used by European law enforcement and criminal justice authorities to predict and profile people’s actions and assess their ‘risk’ of criminality or re-offending in the future. These systems can reproduce and reinforce discrimination and exacerbate inequality. They also engage and infringe fundamental rights, including the right to a fair trial and the presumption of innocence.

In this webinar, we’ll discuss Fair Trials’ new report, Automating Injustice, and hear from panellists with first-hand experience of the harm these systems cause, experts in the field, and leading European policymakers.
