Grange Big Local Newsletter

February 2019

You may have noticed the Tarling Road Community Centre is nearly finished. Barnet Council has provided this update on a preview date coming up:

"The new centre has a variety of multifunction rooms, and Barnet Council is inviting groups to hire spaces on a daily or weekly basis.

On Tuesday 12 March, the centre will be open for previews between 11am-2pm for community groups and members of the public who wish to view the space available for hire at the centre. A table of room costs per hour will be available to help inform decisions.

This will be a great opportunity to see the space available to hire so we look forward to meeting everyone who may wish to attend.

To book a space at the open day, please contact "

This month we are starting a list of useful resources available in our local area, if you have any others to add, please email

The first flowers are coming up at the Barnwood garden we have been working on at Tarling Road - thanks to volunteer Leo for all his work on the site.

GBL is working with others on either setting up a trust or working through an existing one to run the site - please get in touch if you are interested in helping to protect this precious green space for the future.

Thanks for joining us

We really enjoyed our first drop-in session at the beginning of the month - thanks to those who stopped by. It was good to meet some new people and make connections - we are always looking for people to join us. We will be planning another meet up soon.

We have a big programme of work and could really benefit from the help of more volunteers. Here are some of the roles we would like to fill:

BIG LUNCH team members

We would like to plan a Big Lunch in the area. The Big Lunch is simply a local get together including food where people have fun and get to know each other better. It's held on 1/2 June. Could you help coordinate this party? There are lots of materials to help you make it happen, and our workers can support you too. Let us know if you are interested. More info here

Researcher of local businesses and organizations

We would like to update our information about our wonderful local businesses and the services offered by local organisations. Can you spare some time to research this so we can update our website?
