Hi! I’m Mars Mariano – your new CTO.

I’m truly looking forward to meeting each of you. You’ll find me (hopefully) useful, friendly, energetic and collaborative. The bottom line of my message to you is that I’m here to support you, and just as importantly your customers and their missions. I represent the front door to Global CI reach back!

I came to work with you at Global CI because our culture has discriminately prepared us to answer the needs of a federal government in transformation. Ninety percent of Global CI employees are cleared to the Public Trust. Ninety percent of our employees possess 7+ years of industry experience, and 70% of our employees are working at the most senior staffing categories of their federal contracts. We directly support some 140,000+ federal and contractor personnel who directly provide federal services to citizens. Rhetorically and literally, what group is better positioned to support the federal mission’s transformation needs?
But we’re not waiting, we’re listening. And we’re already beginning to provide the partners and technology portfolio both clients and employees will leverage during this modern era of transformation. By the time you read this newsletter, you will find that Global CI has made investments in, and is now providing new federal capabilities in:

Carol LaRotonda joins the Global CI team as Employee Liaison in the Human Resources department of our Windsor Mill offices. Over her career she has held various managerial and individual contributor positions in HR, Organizational Development, and Business Development. 
A native Marylander, Carol has also lived and worked in Florida, California and New York City. She enjoys travel, family and her beloved Swissy, Riley. Email

Fredericksburg Center for the Creative Arts is the oldest art center in the city of Fredericksburg, Virginia.
Located in the historic Silversmith House (circa 1785) at 813 Sophia Street, FCCA features two art galleries - the Members' Gallery and the Frederick Gallery - and hosts new monthly juried exhibitions of contemporary works by local, regional and national artists. The Silversmith House was the site of the City's first Fourth of July celebration in 1805, and was also used as a forward Union hospital during Civil War battles for Fredericksburg. FCCA is "the place where art & history meet."

Personalization is easy with Windows 10. Let's explore the basics of the
and customization options.
The Start menu is better than ever! Just select the Start Start icon button on the taskbar. Make the Start menu yours by pinning apps and programs, or moving and regrouping tiles.
If you need more space, you can quickly resize the Start menu to make it taller or wider. Just select the top or side border and drag it.
To make Start full screen and see everything in one view, select the Start Start icon button, then select Settings > Personalization > Start, and then turn on Use Start full screen

Select the Menu in the top left corner of the screen to get to your account picture, the All apps and Most used list, and the power button.

If you want to make other changes to how the Start menu looks, you can do so in Settings. Select the Start Start icon button, then select Settings > Personalization > Start to change which apps and folders appear in the Start menu.

Today In History: OK
On March 23, 1839, the initials “O.K.” were first published in The Boston Morning Post (excerpt from Meant as an abbreviation for “oll korrect,” a popular slang misspelling of “all correct” at the time, OK steadily made its way into the everyday speech of Americans.

During the late 1830s, it was a favorite practice among younger, educated circles to misspell words intentionally, then abbreviate them and use them as slang when talking to one another. Just as teenagers today have their own slang based on distortions of common words, such as “kewl” for “cool” or “DZ” for “these,” the “in crowd” of the 1830s had a whole host of slang terms they abbreviated. Popular abbreviations included “KY” for “No use” (“know yuse”), “KG” for “No go” (“Know go”), and “OW” for all right (“oll wright”).

Of all the abbreviations used during that time, OK was propelled into the limelight when it was printed in The Boston Morning Post as part of a joke. Its popularity exploded when it was picked up by contemporary politicians. Credited for unraveling the mystery behind “OK” was Allen Walker Read, an American linguist and English professor at Columbia University.
