S3 Newsletter #1/2019

March 2019

Dear Friend,

Once more we have prepared for you a Newsletter full of articles, which we hope manage to transmit to our readers the Steam’s enthusiasm for international business.

And ‘news’ is definitely the key word!  There are plenty of new collaborations, new trips, etc., but above all new customers, all companies that have decided to count on S3’s know-how.

In sourcing we have started a couple of projects that at first sight might lead us to uncharted territory but that doesn’t have to be an obstacle, since they are all based on a proven methodology and accumulated experience spanning more than 15 years in the market.
As far as the teaching activity goes, there are again a lot of renewed assignments, but also novelties, both in terms of business schools and universities, as for the topics and courses that are being covered.
Finally, we have prepared a short article focusing on sales activities about a type of ‘delicatessen’ that is quite typical on the Chinese market.

Wishing you all a great time reading this Newsletter and looking forward to your feedback!

¡Warm regards from Barcelona!

Coordination trip to China
by Tom Van der Heyden

During the month of March Tom Van der Heyden, CEO of SGroup, made his yearly coordination trip to China.

Sourcing: plenty of new orders, production, QC inspections and deliveries

Once more, there is no lack of interesting news items in the sourcing section.  In fact, we started working with two new customers on equally novelty products and there have been multiple deliveries of products to customers with whom we have been working for quite some time, offering our expertise in sourcing and production projects in China.

New initiatives in management education

Again lots of news items in terms of business teaching at universities and business schools, in particular collaborations with UB, EAE, GBS, OBS, IQS, UIBS, ESERP y TBS.

Chicken feet and the trade war between the U.S.A. and China

Few Westerners, definitely not those regularly enjoying a chicken fillet or quite simply some KFC chicken wings, will be aware of the mega-business on the Asian continent (in particular in China) with one of the bird’s most rejected parts in the West: the chicken feet.

Whatever happened to the S3 interns?

In earlier editions of the SNewsletter we have already dedicated some space to the young students that (usually for 2 to 4 months) come to our company, to contribute their energy and interest in learning, as our team offers them the chance to work in real life projects, focusing on international trade.

Suggestions for the new S3 Group website

We have just highlighted in the last chapter the person who made the current website of our company, but… that was three years ago!
It is about time we completely renovatedthe site, so we are asking you, our readers, for your valuable inputsin this process.

Something entirely different...

As usual, we finish our SNewsletter with a few topics that are only loosely (or not at all) linked to the business world.
This time we continue the list of interesting books on China, but we also start a new list, namely focusing on a number of major (or even huge) Chinese cities that are most likely not well known by the general public, although they are very relevant for a variety of reasons.  Hope you like them!

Wanna read again the Newsletter we sent out three months ago?

Thought about that news item we published and that you wanted to share with a colleague?
Can't remember that picture you saw and wanted to show to your friend?
Or... simply can't get enough of it and want to read again what we published some time ago?
We know the feeling: just click on the image next to this text and... off you go!
