S3 Newsletter #2/2018

June 2018

Dear Friend,

Maybe the weather wasn’t brilliant during the second quarter of the year (at least in most of Spain), but these circumstances didn’t manage to slow down the work at S3!
All this can be ‘translated’ logically into a fresh Newsletter with plenty of news, which we hope you will find interesting.
We will cover in detail a host of new sourcing projects and a level of almost ‘hyper-activity’ in the area of business teaching, but the main news topic was without doubt the first trip to Spain by Sarah Zhi, the manager of our Shanghai office.
The visit, with a variety of objectives, included many activities, like meetings with the company’s principal customers, a bunch of internal get-togethers and the unavoidable dose of tourism.
On the other hand, as far as business teaching goes, we will also cover a double ‘première’, namely our first classes in China in the context of the program of a Belgian business school.
Finally, almost inevitably, we will have to briefly talk about the new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and how we treat the data we have on e.g. you, the readers of our S3Newsletter.
Wishing you all a great time reading this Newsletter as well as a wonderful summer vacation
Warm regards from Barcelona,

Tom Van der Heyden
Co-Founder and CEO – SGroup

Visit to Spain of Sarah Zhi, manager of the Shanghai Office

Surely the main news topic of this last quarter has been the first visit to Spain of the manager of our office in Shanghai, China, Mrs. Sarah Zhi.

Sourcing: new customers, orders, projects and quality inspections

Lots of novelties in the sourcing section, especially a variety of new productions, inspections and deliveries of important orders.

First teaching project in China with Vlerick Business School

Lots of news in terms of management teaching initiatives at universities and business schools, including that the highly recognized Belgian business school Vlerick (Europe’s oldest!) invited us to offer a full day of classes and company visits in China.

Selection of sales representative in China for leader in cosmetics

Recently, through the intermediation of one of the many industry associations with which S3has agreements, we were contacted by a Catalan company, leader in its market, for a project that fitted nicely in our service portfolio.

Focus on Miguel Angel Burges, sourcing operations manager

Miguel Angel has been with us for over 6 years now and definitely the combination of his dedication and know-how has meant there is a ‘before and after’ for the sourcing operations in our company.
Compliance with the new General Data Protection Regulation

Also our company has updated our privacy policy that affects, among others, you, our Newsletter readers.

Something entirely different...

We finish this quarter's Newsletter with a interesting news item on the types of Chinese language spoken in the Asian giant.

Wanna read again the Newsletter we sent out three months ago?

Thought about that news item we published and that you wanted to share with a colleague?
Can't remember that picture you saw and wanted to show to your friend?
Or... simply can't get enough of it and want to read again what we published some time ago?
We know the feeling: just click on the image next to this text and... off you go!
