Whip Videos: Los Angeles Whip Convention
and Whip Mania in Bavaria

This month, at, whip maker/videographer Nick Schrader has a great video of the 2018 Los Angeles Whip Convention and a podcast interview with Blake Bruning. From the other side of the Atlantic Ocean, a whip-cracking tradition in Bavaria tries to scare away winter with pops and bangs (the right outfits help, too!).

I am writing a new whip book, and I would like to have your input.

Fun at Mach One: The Book of Whip Games, Contests, and Records (title is tentative). This book is intended to be a reference for whip crackers and whip groups in the world to help keep whip cracking competitive, fresh and fun beyond the mastery of basic skills.

Right now, it is in four parts:
             Part 1: Games
             Part 2: Contests (Rules, etc)
             Part 3: Records
Part 4: Props (patterns for stands, target boards)

So, if you know some games that whip crackers can play with their whips, or if you have suggestions for new records, or have a design for a prop stand, let me know. If you send something, please include a photo of the prop, and your own photo. Full credit will be given in the book.

And that's it in a nutshell. It will be a book to help folks get over the doldrums of whip cracking, and to create a level playing field for competitive whip crackers.

As the author of “Let's Get Cracking! The How-To Book of Bullwhip Skills,” I have watched our sport blossom from a hobby for only cowboys and eccentric loners into a burgeoning international club of men, women and children united in an empowering, entertaining, and thrilling sport.

I sincerely hope you can support this project with your own knowledge and experience, no matter how small you might think your contribution is. I believe this will give future generations of whip handlers an invaluable resource to keep the sport of whip cracking fun into the new century.

Respectfully yours,

- Robert Dante -
