WCRP Director David Carlson resigns

WCRP Director, David Carlson, has tendered his resignation — effective 30 June 2017. We will truly miss Dave's experience and enthusiasm and we wish him the very best for the future. Read Dave's letter to the WCRP Community here.

José Santos appointed as new CLIVAR IPO Director

We extend a very warm welcome to José Santos, CLIVAR's new International Project Office Director. Many of you will have read the official announcement or have met José at the 38th Session of the Joint Scientific Committee in Paris. To get to know José even better we asked him three questions:

YESS Office

Success for YESS

Those of us that work with the Early Career Researchers (ECRs) in the YESS Community know how hard working and dedicated they are. As a result YESS has been successful in establishing a YESS office at Argentina’s National Weather Service in Buenos Aires (read more here). This office, which will be overseen by ECR Valentina Rabanal, is a fantastic achievement and we warmly congratulate them. If you are interested in joining YESS or supporting their work please contact them via the YESS website.
WCRP Communication Survey

Communications update - survey and strategy

At the 38th Session of the Joint Scientific Committee the new WCRP Communications Strategy was approved. The full strategy is available here, or for the time-pressured, a 2-page overview is available here.

Much of this strategy was based on responses to the WCRP Communication Survey which took place from Nov 2016 - Jan 2017. For those of you interested, there is a report on the survey responses available here.  

In the next months we will begin implementing the recommendations of the Communications Strategy with appropriate consultation and opportunities for feedback. I welcome feedback on any aspect of WCRP Communications at any time on the email address below.
