Affordable housing availability is an urgent and critical need for many communities across Ontario and the country. Many credit unions are already supporting various agencies and grass roots efforts in their community and social investments. Your Neighbourhood Credit Union is intrigued by the potential in a new model called Home Opportunities. When we learned the non-profit was seeking credit union partners, we decided to arrange a presentation for our board and senior leadership team.
In the spirit of co-operation among co-operatives, we are delighted to open the presentation to Ontario credit unions to attend as well. We hope you will join us for this webinar to explore possibilities for making an enduring difference to Ontarians who might currently think that owning their own home is beyond their reach.
Home Opportunities Model Webinar
Home Opportunities, along with the Ontario Co-operative Association and other partners such as CMHC, are working on developing a new sector that would deliver ownership opportunities to households with incomes between $35,000 and $75,000 annually, without requiring grants and subsidies from any source. The model they are working with was developed by Home Opportunities Non-profit Corporation. There is a role for credit unions in this new model not only as investors but as a service to their membership.
Mike Labbé, President of Home Opportunities, has 43 years of experience working with dozens of home ownership and rental programs both in Canada and around the world. He will provide an outline of the new model and describe how your credit union can become involved in this new and exciting direction for the co-operative movement.
This webinar will take place on July 13th at 1:00 PM EST.
